The Into Our Skies: Space in Schools project uses movement and dance to engage young audiences with the curiosity and excitement of science through a free 6-week scheme of work including interactive educational videos and classroom investigations. During this session, delegates will be introduced to the Space in Schools resource and given an overview of the benefits of using dance to support young people to physically explore, creatively imagine and practically engage with scientific concepts and ideas. Designed as a response to the Covid pandemic and created by a specialist team including an astrophysicist, dance educator, professional dancer and composer, Space in Schools is closely aligned to the upper KS2 science curriculum and delivers high quality online learning experiences: supporting teacher’s in the classroom or as a home-based resource by providing schemes of work, online interactive dance videos and practical investigations. Delivery is further supported by teacher notes and PowerPoint presentations.
