RAS200: embedding astronomy in society for the future
Contributed
Wales has a very long, established heritage in music, poetry and the arts, with recognition for excellence given through the National Eisteddfod of Wales and the Urdd National Eisteddfod. Science has not historically featured prominently in this. However, in recent years the profile of science has increased, with the RAS200 Eisteddfodau project playing an important role. Through a programme of creative and inclusive activities the project inspires interest in astronomy and geophysics. These activities are led by experts in the arts who are familiar with communicating with diverse audiences, and are informed on the science by A&G Fellows and other science experts.
