RAS200: embedding astronomy in society for the future
Contributed
Brian Sheen
Cornwall Sea to Stars is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to bring the wonders of astronomy and geophysics to curious minds around Cornwall. In 2018, we received funding from RAS200: Sky and Earth to purchase an exhibition trailer and equip it with outreach resources. Our team has taken the trailer to events across Cornwall (ranging from agricultural shows to schools’ STEM days and village fetes), targeting diverse audiences and age-groups.

This March, we commissioned a print-run of 500 copies of the ‘Pocket Atlas of Mars 36’ (ed. Henrik Hargitai) and are developing educational support materials. We plan to distribute packs to every school in Cornwall in September. After a hiatus of a year due to the pandemic, we are now resuming activities with the trailer. In this presentation, we will showcase the Cornwall Sea to Stars trailer and give a status update on activities, including the Mars atlas project.
