Outreach and public engagement: Engaging communities with astronomy
Astroreach
Engaging the wider public with astronomical research and modern discoveries is increasingly important to the future of astronomy. Not only does public engagement demonstrate the value of government-funded research, it also contributes to the ongoing education of the public after secondary school and encourages lifelong learning. This session discusses the best practise for how to engage a variety of audiences and communities with astronomy and astrophysics research. The session invites talks on the planning and delivery of different types of public engagement, including live streams, articles and blogs, lectures, workshops, adult courses, citizen science, telescope observing sessions, and more.
