Astronomy has always been strongly influenced by awe inspiring images. As soon as they can convey the human nature into these images, we feel especially closely touched and inspired by the pictures. This has found its home in astronomy photography and the subject area of skyscapes that try and frame sky with a relevant landscape.
This project involve images sourced from the stunning Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition. The aims are to extract core attributes, develop a virtual skyscape building tool and start a citizen science project exploring the impact of such imagery. This work will be drawing upon the extensive experience gathered through the Writing Skyscapes exhibition included in the National Astronomy Meeting 2021 in Bath.
This talk will give a work in progress report and outlook of future work. It will also allow a better understanding of the development of an innovative feedback tool regarding skyscape experiences.
