Astrobites, an accessible astrophysics literature blog run by postgraduate students around the world, celebrated its 10th anniversary last December. We reflect on a decade of online engagement making cutting-edge astrophysics research more accessible to undergrads, astronomy enthusiasts and professional astronomers alike!
Our daily posts summarise recent research papers in succinct, easy-to-read blog posts which see thousands of page views per day. Our content has expanded over the years to cover a range of topics including interviews with astronomers, careers advice, topical news and controversial issues in the field, as well as engaging with our readers on social media. We support a diverse & inclusive astronomy community, and aim to use our platform to make the field a more equitable and supportive place. Astrobites has inspired numerous similar blogs in other scientific disciplines, as well as our Spanish, Portuguese, Farsi and Arabic sister sites, a podcast, and an undergraduate webinar series! Come along and hear about the highlights & challenges of ten years of a self-organising, early-career researcher led online public engagement initiative.
All attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to other attendees and staff, and to adhere to the NAM Code of Conduct.
