The Royal Astronomical Society’s 2021 National Astronomy Meeting (NAM2021) will be held at the University of Bath from Sunday 18th July to Friday 23rd July. In addition to the UK’s astronomy community, the meeting includes the UK Solar Physics (UKSP), and the Magnetosphere Ionosphere and Solar-Terrestrial (MIST) communities.
We invite proposals for sessions to be held at NAM2021, and encourage members of the Astronomy, UKSP and MIST community from all levels of seniority to apply for specialist, and cross-disciplinary sessions. As well as hosting parallel sessions of varying duration, the conference will have space for collaborative meetings, half-day workshops and lunch sessions. There is no limit on the number of sessions an individual can propose, and the applicants of any successful proposals will be expected to take on the role of scientific organisers of the meeting.
We are keen to raise the profile of public engagement, diversity, and inclusion at NAM2021, and encourage proposals where engagement and diversity are embedded into the science content, in addition to dedicated sessions. We will also have a public-facing programme of activities as part of the continuing Royal Astronomical Society bicentenary celebrations, and applications to contribute to this programme are welcome.
We are currently planning for a face-to-face meeting, but we will be striving to provide the opportunity for remote participation for those delegates unable to come in person. The health and safety of NAM2021 delegates is of the utmost importance to us, and we will be monitoring ongoing global developements due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are making arrangements to facilitate a move to an online platform if necessary, and we will confirm the format of NAM2021 in early spring.
Proposals should be submitted on-line here.
The deadline for submitting proposals for sessions is Friday 8th Jan 2021 at 17:30 UTC.
